Drag Race Rack and Pinion
Strange Engineering now offers Drag Race Rack and Pinion units for (rear engine) race only applications. Just as you would expect from Strange, these are top-quality rack and pinion units are made with the finest materials and craftsmanship available in the industry.
Built with pride in the USA, Strange lightweight steering boxes are manufactured using only heat-treated high strength hardened steel and aircraft grade billet aluminum. Combine the best parts available with uncompromising standards in the manufacturing process and you produce a Drag Race Steering Box with a silky-smooth turning radius and almost zero backlash.
The hardened 4140 chrome moly pinion rides on a system of ball-bearings that deliver a seamless feel in the driver’s hand with the confidence of durability and longevity in his heart. Inner tie rods are made from stainless-steel. They will never rust or corrode. On the inboard side is a .375-inch spherical ball on the outboard end, right-hand threads. The steering box housing is CNC machined from 6061-T6511 billet aluminum to be lightweight and extremely strong. It is pre-drilled with .375-inch bolt holes on 1.312-inch centers and treated to a black anodized finish. It also includes a weld end for your steering shaft.
Everything that goes into Strange Drag Race Steering Boxes – from the self-lubricating bronze bushings that allow the unit to move and flex smoothly to the dual lip pinion seal and heavy-duty, nylon reinforced neoprene boots that keep debris and moisture at bay – is top quality. Not only are the manufacturing specs very tight but assembly tolerances are exceptionally close. Stringent testing and active quality control keep Strange Drag Race Gear Boxes smooth and durable with almost no backlash.
