Brake Residual Valve
Does your drag race vehicle have a low center of gravity? So low that your brake fluid runs out of the caliper and lines and back into the master cylinder? That’s what happens when your brake master cylinder is lower than your calipers. This condition can result in a soft, spongy brake pedal and ineffective braking.
If your vehicle is equipped with drum brakes, a similar condition may present itself. Since drum brakes require ten pounds of pressure to engage and keep the wheel cylinder cups expanded, the brake pedal may feel mushy at times.
The solution to both these problems is a simple one. The Strange External Residual Pressure Valve is used to maintain pressure in the brake lines between brake pedal applications. The Strange External Residual Pressure Valve maintains a predetermined degree of pressure at the caliper or wheel cylinder. This allows the brakes to be engaged with minimal pedal/lever travel for a superior feel.
Strange External Residual Pressure Valves are made from top-quality billet aluminum and threaded with 1/8-inch NPT threads on each end. They are most effective when positioned near the master cylinder. Strange External Residual Pressure Valves are available as a 2-pound valve for disc brakes or a 10-pound valve for drum brakes.
